A Perfect Way to Purchase – Fair Trade

One easy way make sure what we buy is ethical and good is to shop Fair Trade.  That’s it!  Start with Fair Trade.  If Fair Trade doesn’t have what we need, then we can look on to local artisans and farmers.  If they fall short too and if we must have whatever it is we are shopping for then I think we give ourselves grace and go to conventional stores to get what we need.  That’s conscientious consumerism in my book, friends.

May we all do what we can as we are able.  Cheers!

Grace, Accepting our Feelings and Daily Practices to Help Ourselves

Calling all capable achievers!  This one’s for you!

In episode 4 of To Be Fair… we reflect on the power of grace, the importance of accepting our feelings and we think about three practices that can significantly help us in our daily lives.

Here is a bit about the Jazz Walk co-founder Brandon Drapper.

What Can Make Us More Happy? Music!

In this episode of To Be Fair… we think about an easy thing we can do to make ourselves more happy: listen to music.  It’s as easy as clicking on our favorite tunes!

As I describe in simplistic ways about what happens in our brains when we listen to good music, I referenced my high school Biology teacher.  I can’t believe this, but I called Mr. Weishaar by my government teacher’s name!  Goodness.  I only realized my mistake because Mr. Weishaar has just recently passed away and I saw words of the celebration of his life.  He certainly taught a lot of us the basics and I’m grateful for him.  I apologize for misspeaking his name.

I hope you find this episode helpful and am interested in your thoughts.  Please share as you feel comfortable doing so.

Let’s do rock that natural dopamine in our brains, friends, and lift our spirits with some music!

Ethical Clothing

We live in a fantastic time, friends!  There are clothing options available to us that are wonderful in every way!

Farmers can be paid fairly for their crops that were grown well, material can be made from said crops, people can sew beautiful things with that fabric and we can look good in clothing that we know was sourced well.

It’s wonderful!

Except that sometimes we don’t plan ahead and end up needing to buy sweat shop clothing.  Damn it.  <raising my own hand here>

That’s when we stop, breathe and live on knowing that we can do things differently the next time if we want to try to do so.  Grace.  For ourselves.
